Encaustic Monoprints

What is encaustic painting?

Encaustic painting is essentially painting with hot colored wax and a medium. When wax melts it adheres to the surface of the paper or other rigid surfaces. I have been using encaustic because it has the most wonderful texture and touch. It can be elastic or hard, three-dimensional or flat. It is a technique that has been around for over 2000 years; the oldest surviving encaustic panel paintings are the Romano-Egyptian Fayum portraits from 100-300 AD. Encaustic has now been recently rediscovered and is widely used as another tool for artistic expression. Each encaustic piece I create is unique, perfect for collectors or anyone looking to enhance their space. My monoprints add striking visual appeal and warmth to any environment, and each piece is signed and dated for authenticity.
